Buying one company is a deal. Stacking several into a single business with a plan behind it is a platform. That difference sits at the heart of how Reeve Waud invests.
Altocare shows the method in action. Waud Capital Partners created the home-care holding company to pull together brands that care for people in their own homes. In April 2025 it added MedTec Healthcare, a provider of in-home care and adult day services. Reeve Waud, who chairs the board of Acadia Healthcare on top of leading his firm, has built companies this way for years.
From Single Brand to Full Platform
MedTec joined Senior Helpers under the Altocare umbrella. The group now has two recognized names and a wider set of services. Senior Helpers handles personal care and support for people living with chronic conditions. MedTec brings in-home care and adult day programs.
Together the brands can serve both private-pay families and clients covered by Medicaid. That reach matters in a business where demand keeps climbing. The population is aging, and more families want help that keeps a loved one at home.
Operators First
Steve Jakubcanin runs point as Altocare’s executive chairman. He’s an executive partner at Waud Capital, and he’s spent more than 20 years in home care and other post-acute corners of healthcare.
Putting a seasoned operator in that chair is no small detail. Reeve Waud tends to find the person before he builds the company, then hand them the keys. Home care is fragmented and full of small local providers. It rewards leaders who can knit those pieces into something larger without losing the personal touch families count on.
Why Home Care, Why Now
The math behind the bet is plain. Americans are getting older. Most of them want to stay in their own homes. The supply of organized, well-run care hasn’t kept pace. A platform like Altocare can fill that gap and give smaller operators a path to grow.
Consolidation also brings scale to back-office work such as scheduling, billing, and caregiver training. That frees local teams to spend more time with clients. Done well, a larger owner can lift pay and standards while keeping the neighborhood feel families value. The approach rhymes with Reeve Waud’s work at Acadia Healthcare, where the focus is meeting behavioral health needs that outstrip the available beds.
